I spent the entire winter of 2020 in the Arizona Sonoran Desert photographing these skies specifically for this kit. You’ll find a great variety of sunsets, most with a soft, pleasing, almost pastel quality.


And just because they were photographed in Arizona doesn’t mean you can only use them on Arizona photos. You’ll find a use for them no matter where your original photo was taken, and they work even if you photographed the scene at sunrise.


Every sky is a high-resolution JPG, so they’ll drop right into Photoshop, Luminar, ON1 or any other program you use to replace a sky.

Hi, I’m Matt Suess. I’ve been replacing skies since 1993, back in the chemical darkroom days, and I’ve done sky replacements for client and commercial work.


I’ve also spent years teaching photo enthusiasts how to replace skies so the result looks natural. One thing I’ve learned: the sky you start with makes all the difference.


That’s why I photographed these sunsets specifically for sky replacement, at high resolution and with the kind of soft, believable color that blends into a scene instead of overpowering it.

What are the file specs?

High-resolution JPGs, almost all 8,200 pixels on the long edge (the equivalent of a 50MP camera), saved in the Adobe RGB color profile. With a little cropping they work on any photo format.

Which software can I use?

Any program that opens JPGs can open them. For an easy sky replacement, use one with layers & masks or a sky replacement tool, such as Photoshop, Luminar or ON1 Photo RAW.

How do I add the skies to my software?

How do I get the files?

If I use your clouds/skies in my photo project, who then owns the rights to the final image? Can I sell prints of the final image, or sell it to clients, etc?

Do they work on sunrise photos?

Yes. Sunrise and sunset light look very similar, so these skies work great on photos taken at either end of the day.
